1988 (XXIV Olympiad) games

 These games were in Seoul South Korea from September 17 to October 2. 160 nations and 8453 athletes participated. 7 nations did not participate due to various reasons (boycott, didn't respond to invite, athletic and financial reasons. Vladimir Arterov wins 4 gold in gymnastics, while Daniela Silivas of Romania won 3 gold and equalled Nadia Comenici 7 perfect 10s. Women's sailing was its own event. Lawrence Lemieux of Canada won the Pierre de Coubertin medal when he helped an injured competitor in peril. Anthony Nesty won Suriname first medal when he won the 100m butterfly. Last time USA basketball sent an amateur team. Indonesia wins first medal - a silver in archery. Soviet Union won most gold (55) and most overall (132). South Korea won 12g, 10s, 11b for 33 total. Canada won 3g, 2s, 5b for 10 total. Tomorrow - 1992 games in Barcelona Spain. Here is the emblem for today.
