Quarter final 4

Sweden beat Germany 2-1 and will face the Netherlands in the semis on July 3rd. England vs the U.S is on July 2nd. Sweden also qualified for the summer Olympics. Which also means the defending Olympic gold medalists will not be in Tokyo.

Quarter final 3

Netherlands beat Italy 2-0 and will be in the semis against either Germany or Sweden. They also qualified for the 2020 summer Olympics.

Quarter final 2

Today had the U.S beat France 2-1 and will face England in the semis. This also means England is one of three European teams qualify for the summer Olympics. Other two teams will qualify tomorrow. The winners of the Italy vs Netherlands and Germany vs Sweden games will be in the semis and qualify for the Olympics.

Quarter final 1.

England beat Norway 3-0 to put themselves into the semis against either France or the U.S. That game is tomorrow.

Round of 16 day 4

Today had Italy beat China 2-0 and Netherlands beat Japan 2-1. Quarter final match ups has: Norway vs England on Thursday, France vs U.S on Friday, Italy vs Netherlands on Saturday and Germany vs Sweden also on Saturday.

Round of 16 day 3

Today had the U.S. beat Spain 2-1 and Sweden beat Canada 1-0. Sweden will play Germany in the quarters on Saturday and the U.S will play France on Friday. Tomorrow has Italy vs China and Netherlands vs Japan.

Olympic day

Today marks the birth of the Olympics. Formed on this day in 1894, today the Olympics celebrates its 125th birthday. And less than 400 days to the Tokyo games.

Round of 16 day 2

Today England beat Cameroon 3-0 and France beat Brazil in Extra time 2-1. England will play Norway on Thursday and France get the Spain vs U.S. That game is tomorrow along with Sweden vs Canada.

Round of 16 day 1

First game had Germany beat Nigeria 3-0. Second game went to a shootout out. Norway ended up beating Australia 4-1 in the shootout. Norway will get either England or Cameroon in the quarters and Germany will get either Sweden or Canada in the quarters. Tomorrow has England vs Cameroon and France vs Brazil.

Summer has begun

Summer began at 9:54am today marking the longest day of the year in terms of daylight hours. After today we start losing daylight. Enjoy your summer.

Group f done

The U.S beat Sweden 2-0 and Chile beat Thailand 2-0. U.S finishes fits, Sweden second, Chile third and Thailand last. Cameroon and Nigeria get in along with Brazil and China as the 4 best third place teams. The round of 16 match ups has: Norway vs Australia, Germany vs Nigeria (both games Saturday), England vs Cameroon, France vs Brazil (both on Sunday), Spain vs U.S., Sweden vs Canada (both games Monday) Italy vs China and Netherlands vs Japan (both games Tuesday).

Group e action

Netherlands beat Canada 2-1 and Cameroon beat New Zealand 2-1.  Netherlands will win the group while Canada will finish second.  Cameroon will finish third with 3 pts and New Zealand will finish with 0. This leaves group f.  Sweden vs U.S and Thailand vs Chile.

Women's world cup day 13

Today had England beat Japan 2-0 and Scotland tie Argentina 3-3.  England will win group d with 9 pts.  Japan will finish second with 4.  England and Japan are into the round of 16. Argentina is 3rd with 2 pts and MAY get into the round of 16.  Scotland will finish last with 1 point.  Tomorrow has Netherlands vs Canada and Cameroon in group e and Sweden vs the U.S and Thailand vs Chile in group f.

Women's world cup day 12

Today had Australia beat Jamaica 4-1 and Brazil beat Italy 1-0.  Australia, Italy abdominal Brazil all had 6 pts. Jamaica had 0.  Italy will finish first, Australia second and Brazil third.  All will be in the round of 16.  Tomorrow has Japan vs England and Scotland vs Argentina.

Women's world cup day 11

Group a had France beat Nigeria 1-0 and Norway beat South Korea 2-1.  France won the group and Norway took second and will advance. Group b had Germany beat South Africa 4-0 while Spain and China played to a scoreless tie.  Germany finished first and Spain finished second.  China will be one of the four best third place teams to move on.  Tomorrow has Jamaica vs Australia and Italy vs Brazil in group c action.

Women's world cup day 10

Group f had Sweden beat Thailand 5-1 and the U.S beat Chile 3-0. Sweden an the U.S are into the round of 16. Both have 6 pts each.  Chile and Thailand have 0.  Tomorrow has Nigeria vs France, South Korea vs Norway, South Africa vs Germany and China vs Spain. These games will finish groups a and b.

Rugby 7s going to Tokyo

Canada's women's rugby 7s team today qualified for the Tokyo summer games next year.  WOOOOOOOOO!  Fingers crossed the get an Olympic gold.

Women's world cup day 9

Today had Netherlands beat Cameroon 3-1 and Canada beat New Zealand 2-0.  Netherlands and Canada both have 6 pts and will be in the round of 16.  Cameroon and New Zealand have 0.  One of them COULD be in the next round as one of the 4 best third place teams.  Tomorrow has Sweden vs Thailand and the U.S vs Chile.

Women's world cup day 8

Italy beat Jamaica 5-0 (no surprise) and sits atop group c with 6 pts.  Brazil and Australia have 3 each and Jamaica with 0.  Group d had Japan beat Scotland 2-1 and England beat Argentina 1-0.  England has 6 pts, Japan has 4, Argentina with 1 and  Scotland with 0.  Tomorrow has Netherlands vs Cameroon and Canada vs New Zealand.

Raptors NBA champs

In their first trip to the finals,  the Toronto Raptors are NBA champions beating the two r In a row champs Golden State Warriors in six games.  Congrats.

Cfl kickoff

Opening night of the CFL season had Hamilton beat Saskatchewan 23-17.  Quite a start.  Looking forward to a good season.

Women's world cup day 7

China beat South Africa 1-0 and is tied with Spain for second with 3 points while South Africa has 0.  That is group b. In group b, a bit of a surprise as Australia beat Brazil 3-2.  They have now 3 points each.  Italy and Jamaica play tomorrow along with Japan vs Scotland and England vs Argentina in group d.

Stanley Cup Blues

The St. Louis Blues are Stanley Cup champions after beating the Boston Bruins 4-1 in game 7.  It's their first ever championship.  Congrats to the Blues.

Women's world cup day 6

Today in group a, Nigeria beat South Korea 2-0 and France beat Norway 2-1. France leads the group with 6 points, Norway and Nigeria have 3 and South Korea has 0. Group b had Germany beat Spain 1-0 and leads the group with 6 pts while Spain has 3.  China vs South Africa play tomorrow along with Australia vs Brazil in group c.

Women's world cup day 5

Today had the Netherlands beat New Zealand 1-0, Sweden beat Chile 2-0 and the U.S. blow out Thailand 13-0. 😮.  Tomorrow has Nigeria vs South Korea, France vs Norway and Germany vs Spain.

Homer record

In an Arizona Diamondbacks 13-8 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, both teams combined to hit an MLB record 13 home runs.  Yikes. Few souvenirs for sure.

Argentina and Japan played to a scoreless tie, and Canada beat Cameroon 1-0.  Tomorrow's action rounds out match day one with New Zealand vs Netherlands, Chile vs Sweden and the U.S. vs Thailand.

151st Belmont Stakes

Sir Winston won the Belmont Stakes with a time of 2:28.30. Joel Rosario was winning jockey and Mark E. Casse was winning trainer.  No triple crown winner this year.

Today had Italy beat Australia 2-1. Italy is in its first tournament in 20 years. Other games had Brazil beat Jamaica 3-0 and England beat Scotland 2-1.  Tomorrow has Argentina vs Japan and Canada vs Cameroon.

Today's action had Norway beat Nigeria 3-0, Germany beat China 1-0 and Spain beat South Africa 3-1.  Tomorrow has Australia vs Italy, Brazil vs Jamaica and England vs Scotland.

Women's world cup opener

First game is in the books as host France beat South Korea 4-0.  Pretty much a no surpriser here.  Tomorrow has Nigeria vs Norway, Germany vs China and Spain vs South Africa.

Beginning of June means.........

......more baseball, end of hockey season, women's world Cup (begins on Friday), starting of the CFL (season begins on the 13th), the Belmont Stakes  (next Saturday), and the end of the NBA season.  I think that covers it.  Stay tuned for more.
