end of july already? eeek can't believe its the end of july already. the month just flew by. with capital ex, rexall indy, the taste of edmonton, and the street performers, it was busy. with august near and heritage days here literally and the fringe upcoming, it'll fly by - hopefully.
a racing double header that heated up summer on a scorcher of a day, two races in two cities and in two countries heated things up. first in edmonton, will power won the 2009 rexall edmonton indy. helio castroneves finished second and scott dixon finished third. paul tracy finished 9th and alex tagliani finished 13th. meanwhile in indianapolis, jimmie johnson won his second straight brickyard 400 barely beating mark martin. tony stewart finished third and still leads the points. thats race day and its still sizzling. its 25c right now.
buerle pitches perfect mark buehrle pitches a perfect game as the chicagop whtie sox beat the tampa bay rays 5-0. he faced the minimum 27 batters to get the perfect game. no hits, no errors, no walk, no hit batsmen no nothing. way to go.
the 40th anniversary today marks the 40th anniversary of the first landing on the moon. neil armstrong was the first to walk on it. "thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
cfl retro week tonight begins retro week in the cfl. the lions and eskimos begin the week wearing retro jerseys from the 1960s. the remaining games will also do the same. the lions and eskimos jerseys are pretty cool. cant wait to see the rest of them.
the old guy did it again mark martin has done it again. led the most laps and won the lifelock.com 400. the car was dialed in all race. tony stewart finished fourth and still leads the points. next race is july 26 in indianapolis and the allstate 400 at the brickyard.
the first no hitter of the season the first no-no goes to jonathon sanchez of the san francisco giants and he pitched a gem against the san diego padres. only a fielding error prevented a perfect game. the giants won 8-0. it is also the giants first no hitter in 33 years. congrats.
a sunny break from the rain it took awhile to recognize the sun out after its been cloudy and rainy the last few days. no complaints about the rain, it was much needed. the farmers were really needing the rain. hopefully they get something for a crop. the grass will get greener in short order now. there should be enough moisture in the ground to do so. times when rain is nice. maybe a couple more days will help.
coke zero 400. what a finish to the coke zero 400 in daytona. kyle busch took the lead from tony stewart with a lap to go and jummue johnson 3rd. busch tried to block stewart a first time and stayed in front. stewart went to the outside and got the nose of his car past the back bumper of busch when busch tried to block again and wrecked himself. i dont know how stewart kept his car straight but he did and ended up winning it followed by johnson. busch ended up taking two more hits aterwards. not much left of his car. so stewart wins again. next race in chicago next saturday night.
weather fun in edmonton rainy fun at commonwealth between the eskimos and the winnipeg blue bombers. rain storm has been passing through edmonton and is coming down still. whats a football game without a little rain.
