carolina at buffalo game 6 buffalo leads carolina 1-0 after one period. buffalo wins and there is game 7 on thursday. carolina wins and they play edmonton for the stanley cup. the stanley cup start on june 5th in either carolina or buffalo. update: buffalo 2 carolina 1 (ot) game 7 thursday.
coca cola 600 kasey kahne won the coca cola 600 while jimmie johnson finished 2nd. tony stewart crashed hard on lap 34 and wound up 42nd injuring himself in the process. i think it was a shoulderblade fracture. he hurt it last night in the busch race after he hit the wall hard, and the crash today made it worse. he came out of his car grimacing in pain. anyways he is 4th in thpoints while johnson still leads over matt kenseth, mark martin and stewart. thats it for racing. at least for today.
indianapolis 500 sam hornisch jr has just won the indianapolis 500 by 6/100's of a second over marco andretti. marco is the son of michael, and the grandson of mario. quite the exciting finish.
stanley cup finals here we come the oilers are in the finals after beating the mighty duck of anaheim 2-1. they survived a five on three late in the game to secure the spot. dwayne roloson stood on his head the entire game. who we will play is up in the air as the buffalo/carolina series is tied a two games a peice. and whyte avenue is already packed with oilers fans. lets hope the oilers win it.
game 4 anaheim saved themselves by winning 6-3 tonight. 3 goals in the first period did it. oilers tried to get back in it, but anaheim played better. this felt like a wierd game, i dont know why. anyways game five saturday night.
the coolest thing ever that nade national news this happened during the singing of the national anthems. paul loriaul (edmonton's anthem singer) began singing the canadian anthem and then stopped. the rest of the way was 17,000 voices singing the rest of the anthem. even the day after, i still get chills hearing it. maybe it will happen tomorrow night.
oilers win game 3 man, the oilers got away with one tonight. they go up 4-0, then they got absolutely lazy and relaxed, letting anaheim back into it. the oilers ended up winning 5-4. they are fortunate to win it, and they can wrap it up thursday night. oh yeah, its holiday time for me.
wow, can you believe this the oilers are coming home with a two games to none lead with ANOTHER 3-1 win over anaheim. games 3 and four here in edmonton will be rocking tuesday and thursday. those games will be fun.
nascar nextel all star race jimmie johnson just won it and picked up a cool million. considering he got busted for speeding onto pit road and almost went a lap down he did alright. there was even the big wreck involving kasey kahne, mark martin, greg biffle, jeremy mayfield, kyle busch and tony stewart to name a few. stewart was rear ended a bit in that one, and later on he and matt kenseth got into a wreck that put both out. so a crappy night for tony (for which im still irritated with). cant fault him i guess. anyways the coca cola 600 a week from tomorrow.
oilers win game one game just ended. oilers won 3-1. oilers stole this one, despite leaving edmonton after game six two nights ago. game two is sunday night, while game one between buffalo and carolina is tomorrow afternoon.
cracker-cats home opener got home from the home opener a little while ago. the crackercats won tonight 4-2 over the fargo-moorhead redhawks. it was also the season opener as well. the highlight was when the sprinklers came on during the game. they mustve been on a timer still. a couple minute "rain" delay. anyways theres the home opener at telus field.
we win the oilers have moved on with a 2-0 win over the sharks. first trip to the conference final since 1992. next up - the mighty ducks of anaheim.
survivor: exile island aras baskauskas won the million bucks and the title of sole survivor by a five to two vote. next up, the cook islands.
carolina advances, oilers vs sharks game 5 the carolina hurricanes beat the new jersey devils 4-1 and win the series 4-1 (interesting). they will play the buffalo sabres in the eastern conference final. meanwhile edmonton is at san jose currently playing. oilers lead 1-0 late in the first. update later. update: oilers 6 sharks 3. oilers are coming home with a three games to two lead. game six is wednesday night.
dodge charger 500 greg biffle hung on to win this one by two car lengths ofer jeff gordon. biffle had to deal with lap traffic and gordon coming behind him. jimmie johnson finished 4th and added to his point lead to 93 pts over tony stewart. matt kenseth finished 3rd in the race and is 3rd in the points, one point behind stewart. next race - the nextel all star race in charlotte one week from tonight. looking forward to that one and the coca cola 600 on the 28th.
oilers vs sharks game four after being down 2-0 and 3-1, the oilers scored five unanswered goals to win 6-3. a great effort tonight. game five in san jose on sunday night.
some game in edmonton last night this was quite the game. the oilers played alot better, other than a couple mental lapses resulting in san jose's two goals. the oilers won 2-1 in 3ot. shawn horcoff scored 2:28 into the third overtime period. the goal was scored at 12:39 this morning. the oilers now trail the sharks 2 games to one. buffalo and anaheim can wrap up their series tonight with wins. buffalo is at home to ottawa, while anaheim is at colorado. updates later. update 1: ottawa 2 buffalo 1. game 5 saturday. update 2: anaheim 4 colorado 1. anaheim is in the conference final
one game tonight anaheim is at colorado tonight for game 3. last night san jose beat edmonton 2-1 - again. they are up 2 games to none with game 3 tomorrow in edmonton.
a quick one in toronto a fast one in toronto between the angels and blue jays. the jays wont the ball game 5-1 in which the game took 1:59 to complete. a dizzying pace. by the way, san jose beat edmonton 2-1 last night and play game two with a start time in one hour. an update later.
crown royal 400 dale earnhardt jr won his first race since chicago last year in a pretty good race. he took the lead with less than 50 laps to go and hung on to win. denny hamlin finished 2nd, kevin harvick, greg biffle, kyle busch and tony stewart round out the top 6. jimmie johnson finished 12 and kept his point lead. stewart took over the second spot after matt kenseth had one of his brakes break and ruptured his oilpan. he finished 37th. mark martin, harvick, and earnhardt jr round out the top 6 in points. next race is the dodge charger 400 in darlington a week from tonight.
quite a start a high scoring game to open the conference semis. buffalo beat ottawa 7-6 in overtime. late in the third, buffalo ties the game at five, then ottawa scores, then buffalo ties it again with 11 seconds left in the third to go to o.t., to which buffalo scores to win. gotta love those kind of games.
western conference semis with the calgary loss to anaheim last night, the oilers play the san jose sharks, while the mighty ducks play the colorado avalanche. gonna be fun now.
eastern conference game 6 carolina knocked montreal out of the playoffs with a 2-1 overtime win in montreal. meanwhile buffalo knocked out philadelphia with a 7-1 win. that sets up the eastern conference semi final matchup. it will be ottawa vs buffalo and carolina vs new jersey. game 7 between calgary and anaheim is tomorrow.
oilers vs red wings game 6 the oilers have knocked off the red wings four games to two with a 4-3 win. they went into the third period down 2-0, then fernando pisani scores two goals to tie it, then detroit goes up 3-2, then ales hemsky scores two goals, the second one with 66 seconds left, to put the oilers up 4-3. who they will face in the second round will be decided after the calgary/anaheim series is over. they start shortly. so woohoo. time for a walk to settle down.
aarons 499 jimmie johnson won the rain delayed aarons 499 from what i read was a thrilling race. tony stewart finished second. jimmie johnson now takes the points lead. havent seen the rest of the points yet. anyways, gotta go watch detroit @ edmonton.
