1948 (XIV Olympiad) games

 The 1948 games were held in London from July 29 to August 14. 59 nations and 4104 athletes participated. These were known as the austerity games. No new venues built. Fanny Blankers-Koen won 4 golds in athletics. Bob Mathias youngest male to win a gold at 17bin track and field. Veikko Huhtanen of Finland won 3g, 1s, 1b in men's gymnastics. Guyana, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Korea, Lebanon, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela debuted here. USA won most golds (38) and most overall (84). Host Great Britain won 3g, 14s 6b for 23 total. Canada won 1s, 2b for 3 total. Tomorrow - the 1952 games. Here is the emblem for today.
