end of july. finally finally the last day of july. the last couple of weeks felt really slow. even with capital ex and the rexall indy here, it still took an eternity to get here. hopefully august flies by. heritage days are this weekend and the fringe is later this month. oh yeah the olympics. hoefully august and the rest of summer goes fast.
an unsummerlike day man, is it ever. rainy, cool and more fall like. 12 degrees at the moment. by the weekned its supposed to be nice again. not overly hot acording to global. just seen the 4-day and its supposed to be sunny and 21 and 22 on saturday and sunday. comfy weather.
allstate 400 at the brickyard jimmie johnson wins a 'tire'ing race. the race was marred by rather rapid tire wear. goodyear, from what i read didnt have the best tires there. anyways johnson wins his 2nd of the year.
rexall edmonton indy scott dixon won the first indy racing leagues first edmonton race (first since the i.r.l. and champ car merge). paul tracy, running his second race this year here, started 15th and finished 4th. helio castroneves stayed close with dixon and almost took himself out on old tires and finished 2nd.
a weekend of business and fun its a busy weekend. there's the rexall indy at the city centre airport (blatchford field to some), capital ex, there's a word baseball championship at telus field and the world canoe polo championships at hawerlack park. plus the weather is great for these events. people should go while its still here. enjoy while you can.

the olympic poster the poster was unveiled on sunday for the olympics in august. another thing added to my olympic collection. enjoy.
saskatchewan 4-0? yep the riders just beat montreal 41-33 to run their record to 4 wins in 4 games. first time the've done that since 1970. they went 14-2 that year and coaching then was eagle keys. fascinating stat.
m.l.b. midsummer classic the american league wins the 2008 all-start game at yankee stadium with a 4-3 win in 15 innings on a sacrifice fly by michael young scoring justin morneau from 3rd in a close play at the plate. the game tied a record for longest game by innings (15) and broke a record for longest game by time at 4h50m. the american league is unbeaten in the last 12 all-star games (including the tie game in 2002). the managers of boht the a.l. and n.l. are happy in one respect - they had used their last pitchers that were available for the game. j.d. drew wins the ted williams trophy for all-star mvp and wins a 2009 chevy tahoe hybrid in the process. a long night.
lifelock.com 400 kyle busch took the lead from jimmie johnson on the final restart to win his SEVENTH win of the season. busch got right to johnsons bumper and went outside for the winning move. what a finish. next race is the 27th in indianapolis.
hell's kitchen finale and wacky summer weather christina won the kell's kitchen finale and has a new job running a new los angeles restaraunt (sorry i cant remember the name of it).both her and petrozza battled hard running their kitchens and the odd tempermental staff (6 previos contestants came back to fill out the kitchen staff. 3 per side). both perseverd and chef gordon ramsay felt christina was the better choice. congrats to her. some pretty heavy duty weather lately. we went from total hot on the weekend to severe weather last night. quite the downpour too. little bit of hail and the usual thunder and lightning. it rained earlier this morning and it looks like it will rain again. no complaints about the rain..
coke zero 400 this was a wild finish. and i do mean wild. kyle busch won the craziest race of all time with jeff gordon spinning and not brining out the caution and a multi car wreck that did bring one out. kyle busch's 6th win of the year.
happy canada day canada turned 141 today. lots of activities in edmonton and all across canada as well. fireworks tonight at 11pm at kinsmen park.
