Summer games scheduled

The Tokyo summer games next year will be scheduled for July 23rd to August 8th. Hopefully the qualifying will continue.

Summer games postponed a year

This years summer games in Tokyo have been postponed to next summer. They will be held no later than the summer of 2021. No surprise really. Dates of the games will be announced at a later date. Pretty sure that Canada and Australia pulling out had an influence as well as other nations threatening to pull out if they didn't postpone.

This just in

From Piya Chattopadhyay: Canada will not be sending a team to Tokyo for the games due to the COVID-19 virus. Understandable move. Hopefully the games get delayed.

The official start of spring

Spring starts at 9:57pm Mountain time (which Prince Albert and Saskatchewan is in). First full day is tomorrow. It's -14c at the moment and is supposed to warm up over the weekend and stay warmed up (hopefully). Time for the snow to start melting.

Happy St. Patrick's day

That time of year where everyone wears green, or tries to. Green beer served at bars (if they're still open), green river in Chicago and St. Patrick's day parades, if there were any. Stay safe out there.

Two more wrestle into Olympics

Yup two more are going. Jordan Steen and Amar Dhesi won their respective classes and will be going to Tokyo. Nice.

Add another one

This time it's Danielle Lapagge of Olds Alberta winning the 68kg class. She will be going to her second games.

Wrestling to the Olympics

Erica Wiebe is going back to the Olympics after winning the 75kg class event. She is the defending Olympic champion in this event.

Man this is serious

NHL just got suspended. NBA suspended last night. Junos canceled. Leagues everywhere else suspended or cancelled. Some Olympic qualifications moved or cancelled. This Corona virus is an absolute pain in the ass. Anyone who thinks this is a joke needs to get their heads examined. Don't need to have this spread anymore than it has.

Serving to olympics again

Mo Zhang and Eugene Wang got another Olympic spot in the mixed team event. This after they each claimed a spot - MO in the ladies event and Eugene in the mens event. Excellent.

Brier goes on the Rock

Brad Gushue and his team from Newfoundland and Labrador beat Team Bottcher of Alberta 7-3 and will represent Canada at the worlds later this month and at next years Brier. This tournament had great shots, very good games and even a 4 way tie breaker. And that's another Brier.

Serving to the Olympics

Mo Zhang and Eugene Wang each qualified for the Tokyo olympics in table tennis. Couple of Canadians now in serve.
