cole hamels goes no-no crazy

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels pitched a no hitter as the Phillies shut out the Chicago Cubs 5-0. he walked two and struck out 13. the no hitter is his first one. first time the Cubs were no hit was Sept. 9 1965 when Sandy Koufax threw a perfect game. last time Wrigley Field saw a no hitter when Cubs Milt Pappas did the feat in Sept 2, 1972.

fifa womens world cup championship game

this wasn't even close. the United States scored 4 goals in the first 16 minutes en route to a 5-2 win over Japan. Carli Lloyd scored three of the four goals within those 16 minutes. they have their redemption over Japan from when they lost to them in 2011. congrats to the U.S.

third place game

this one went into 30 minutes of extra time. England got the only goal of the game on a penalty kick and will finish third defeating Germany 1-0. a bit of redemtion after losing in the semi final on a heartbreaker of an own goal on the last possible minute. hopefully Laura Bassett feels a little better.
