1928 (IX Olympiad) games

 The 1928 games were held in Amsterdam Netherlands from July 28 - August 12. 46 nations and 2883 athletes participated. First games under president Henri de Baillet-Latour. Symbolic flame lit for first time. Greece led parade of nations and host nation ended it for first time, a tradition that still continues. Coca Cola first appeared as sponsor for first time.  First games to have fixed 16 day schedule. Athletics held in 400m track for first time. Lithuania appears as independent nation for last time until 1992. India wins first of 6 straight field hockey golds. United States won most gold (22) and most overall (56). Host Netherlands had 6g, 9s, 4b for 19 total. Canada had 4g, 4s, 7b  for 15 total. Tomorrow is the 1932 games. Here is the poster for today.
