lakers silence thunder, hawks force game seven, nuggets and jazz in progress the l.a. lakers just knocked out the oklahoma city thunder in six games with a 95-94 win in game six. they await the winner of the nuggets and the jazz who are currently playing game six. the jazz are up by one in the third quarter. earlier the atlanta hawks forced a game seven b beating the milwaukee bucks 83-69. game seven there is sunday. update: utah 112 denver 104 utah faces the lakers
san antonio spurs dallas, can phoenix burn portland earlier, san antonio knocked out the dallas mavericks in game six winning 97-87 and will face portland or phoenix, who is playing game six at the moment. update on that later. update: phoenix 99 portland 90 phoenix eliminates portland and will face san antonio
habs "cap" comeback and beats washington with a 2-1 win the montreal canadiens have knocked out the washington capitals in seven games and will now face the pittsburgh penguins in the east semi finals. in the other semi, it will be the bruins and the flyers. the stanley cup is getting closer now.

bruins buffalo sabres, habs force game 7 the bruins just knocked out the sabres 4-3 and winning the series 4-2. meanwhile the habs forced a game 7 with the capitals winning 4-1. chicago and nashville are underway. a chicago win puts them in the second round. update: chicago moves on to the second round against the vancouver canucks with a 5-3 win over the nashville predators and a 4 games to two series win.
canucks crown kings, coyotes force game 7 the canucks just took out the kings in six games with a 4-2 win tonight in game 6. who knows who they will face. meanwhile the cowotes forced a seventh game with the red wings with a 5-2 win this afternoon. three games tomorrow. hopefully we'll know who plays who in the 2nd round
what a finish in talladega crazy ass finish. on third and final green-white-checkered attempt, kevin harvick times it right and passes jamie macmurray at the finish line to win the aaron's 499 in talladega. he now takes the point lead from jimmie johnson who wreck trying to pass greg biffle on the second attempt. an insane finish. next race is saturday night in richmond. correction. kevin harvick is behind jimmie johnson by 26 pts

monday racing texas shootout style denny hamlin took the lead on the last restart and won the samsung mobile 500. he barely beat out jimmie johnson who was coming fast. the restart came after a 9 car pileup involving tony stewart and jeff gordon. great job by hamlin, who still raced even after knee surgery 19 days ago.
saturday night playoff tilt with a side of baseball the nba playoffs began this afternoon with cleveland beating chicago and atlanta beating milwaukee. boston beat buffalo this afternoon to even that series at one. montreal is playing washington currently and vancouver and los angeles starts at 8. five series there have played two games and all them are even at one. plus loads of afternoon baseball today. a busy day naturally. update: washington beat montreal 6-5 in overtime to even that series while ubaldo jiminez threw a no hitter as the colorado rockies beat the atlanta braves 4-0. it was colorado's first ever no hitter. update 2: the mets beat the cardinals in a game that went 20 innings and 6 hours 53 minutes and vancouver and los angeles are tied at two in overtime. update 3: los angeles wins 3-2 in overtime. their series with vanocuver is tied at one. every series so far tied at one except for chicago and nashville with the preds leading 1-0.
final day of nba and playoff matchups with 14 games today to end the nba regular season, loads of action that decided the playoff matchups and seedings. here's the matchups now that the smoke is cleared: in the east its cleveland vs chicago, orlando vs charlotte, atlanta vs milwaukee and boston vs miami. in the west its l.a. lakers vs oklahoma, dallas vs san antonio, phoenix vs portland and denver vs utah. i believe the playoffs start saturday.

national hockey league playoff bound the regular season ended yesterday. the matchups are: san jose vs colorado, chicago vs nashville, vancouver vs los angeles, phoenix vs detroit, washigton vs montreal, new jersey vs philadelphia, buffalo vs boston and pittsburgh vs ottawa. the playoffs begin wednesday night. schedules on www.nhl.com .
saturday night racing from phoenix kyle busch had the lead on the last caution. everyone pitted. jeff gordon came out leading. by the end of it, ryan newman ended up in victory lane after jeff spun the tires to take the restart. jimmie johnson went from 7th to 3rd. kyle busch ended it in 5th. great finish to the race tonight. next race is a week from tomorrow in texas.
ncaa championship about to start while baseball season in full swing the duke blue devils and the butler bulldogs will square off in a few minutes for the final game of the tournament. butler is making its first trip to the championship game while duke will try to win their first one since 2001. should be a good one. meanwhile the baseball season is in full swing with 10 day games today. the yankees and red sox kicked it off last night in boston with the red sox wining 9-7. update: duke hangs on to beat butler 61-59. great game.
ncaa semi final saturday its half time between duke and west virginia and duke leads 39-31. this afternoon butler beat michigan state 52-50 to reach monday night's final. update from indianapolis after the duke/west virginia game. update: duke 78 west virginia 57. duke will face butler on monday night for the ncaa championship.
beginning of april - no foolin' good start to april. got paid today (would have been tomorrow, but its a holiday tomorrow). so i picked up ice age: dawn of the dinosaurs. good movie. that was followed up by watching survivor: heroes vs villains and now i am watching an episode of the red green show: the infantile years. that has the first three seasons. good beginning to april. can't wait till tuesday when season 4 of simon & simon. until then, keep your stick on the ice.
