1936 (XI Olympiad) games

 The 1936 games were in Berlin Germany from August 1 to 16. 49 nations and 3963 athletes participated. First games to be televised. Radio broadcasts reached 41 nations. Torch relay began here. Jesse Owens won 4 golds in sprint and long jump. Last games under Henri de Baillet-Latour. Iris Cummings last survivor of these games. Liechtenstein, Afghanistan, Bermuda, Bolivia and Costa Rica debuted. Host Germany won most gold and most overall (38g, 31s, 32b 101 total). Canada won 1g, 3s, 5b for 9 total. WWII cancelled 1940 and 1944. Next games is 1948 in London. Here is the emblem for today.
