A gold and a silver. And another Olympic spot

Another gold and silver this evening. The gold won by the synchro swim team clinched another olympic spot there (duet and team). Sweeeeet. That is now 11g, 22s and 18b for 51 medals. Yippee.

6 more medals

6 more medals won today so far. 2g, 2s and 2b. One of those gold in synchro swimming by Jaquelyn Simoneau and Claudia Holzner. They also qualified a spot in the Olympics in duet. Nice. Plus a bronze last night and Canada has 10g, 21s and 18b for 49 medals.

More medals (10 I think)

Ellie Black won bronze in uneven bars. Dorian Llewellyn won a gold in waterskiing overall, a silver in tricks and a bronze in jump. Whitney McClintock took a silver in overall, jump and tricks. And Paige Rini has a bronze in all three. I believe that is now 8g 19s and 15b for 42 medals.

Yesterday's gold produces olympic spot.

Yesterday one of the golds was claimed by the equestrian dressage team. That gold got an Olympic spot in next year's games.

One last medal in gymnastics

Came in the individual all around. I forget who picked up the bronze. That is now 4g, 17s and 12b for 33 medals.

A whole boat load of medals.

First the power was out here for 6 hours. In that time Canada won 16 medals. Not going to list them all. Today they won 2g, 9s and 5m. That brings the total to. 4G,17s, and 11b for 32 total.

This was in the mens team all around in gymnastics. The team of Zachary Clay, Rene Cornoyer, Justin Karstadt, Corey Paterson, and Sam Zakurnet picked up the bronze. Day 2 finishes with 2g, 8s, and 6b for 16 medals.

A trio more

The women's doubles won silver in squash and in taekwondo the Poomsae event-two silvers. One in the mixed pairs and one in the mixed team. That is now 2 golds, 6 silvers and 4 bronze for 12 medals. Yiye.

Silver in gymnastics

The team of Brooklyn Moore, Shallon Olsen, Isabela Onyshko and Victoria-Kayen Woo won a silver in artistic gymnastics. Woo-hoo. That is now 2 silvers and 4 bronze for 6 medals. Pretty good first day.

3 Squash bronzes

A trio in Squash and all bronze. Hollie Naughton picked up one as well as Samantha Cornett in women's singles. Naughton and Andrew Schell picked up a bronze in mixed doubles. That is now a silver and 4 bronze for 5 medals.

Two medals to start

First in the canoe. The men picked up a silver in the C2 1000m event. The second in taekwondo. AJ Assadian picked up a bronze in Poomsae. So far so good.

Moon landing anniversary

50 years ago this morning "the Eagle has landed." Few hours later Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on its surface. "That's one small step for [a] man. One giant leap for mankind."

Another diving spot at the Olympics

Vincent Riendeau clinched it in the mens 10m platform. I think that is now 4 spots in diving at the 2020 Olympics. Nice.

Diving into two more Olympic spots.

First the 10m platform. Meghan Benfeito and Cae McKay qualified a spot in the 2020 Olympics by making the final 8n this event. 2. Pamela Ware and Jennifer Abel qualified a spot at the 2020 Olympics by making the final in the 3m springboard.

Diving to the Olympics

Baseball fun fact

3 pitchers threw no hitters didn't throw a strike out. They are: 1. Earl Hamilton of the St. Louis Browns on August 30 1912. 2. Sam Jones of the Yankees on September 4 1923 3. Ken Holtz man of the Cubs on August 19 1969. Information credit goes to Alex Cheremeteff on twitter.

Double Canadian Olympic qualification

First in beach volleyball. Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes qualified a women's team for the 2020 games. Second in rugby 7s. The men's team qualified after steamrolling though the RAN tournament. They beat Jamaica in the final and will have a team at the 2020 Olympics. A good day for Canada going to the Olympics.

World cup finale

The U.S are champions after beating the Netherlands 2-0. It is their 4th title. That is it for another world cup. Until 2023.

Third place game

Sweden beat England 2-1 and will finish 3rd in the tournament. Tomorrow has the U.S vs the Netherlands for the championship. Should be a good one.

Semi final two

Netherlands scores the only goal of the game in extra time beating Sweden 1-0. Netherlands will play the U.S for the championship on Sunday while Sweden will play England for third on Saturday.

Today in 1963

Juan Marichel and Warren Spahn pitched two of the impressive performances in MLB. Marichel pitched 16 innings, threw 10 strike outs, walked 4 gave up 4 hits, no runs and threw 227 pitches. Spahn threw 15.1 innings, 2 strikeouts, 10 walks, 9 hits and 1 earned run. Giants beat the Braves 1-0 in 16 innings. Spahn is the last starter to lose game when pitching 15 innings.

Semi final 1.

The U.S beat England 2-1 and will play either Sweden or Netherlands for the championship. England will play for 3rd place.

Happy Canada day

Happy 152nd birthday Canada. Enjoy the day. Time to party, camp and do whatever else.
