Brazil beat Paraguay 2-0 in the other south American semi final and joins Colombia in next years world cup and the 2024 summer Olympics. Argentina plays Paraguay not only for third, but also for the last South American spot in the world cup. That is on Friday.

Is it two years to go?

Today marks two years to the opening ceremony of the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris France 🇫🇷.  What records will fall? Who will win the first medal of the games? Who will win medals in the new sports? How many medals will Canada 🇨🇦 win? Find out in two years.

Maude Charron and Josh Cassidy.  Charron is an Olympic and Commonwealth games champion in weightlifting and Cassidy is a paralympian in long distance wheelchair racing and is a Commonwealth medalist. Excellent choices. Commonwealth games start next Thursday.

1955-56 NHL season

This season had (you know) 6 teams and a 70 game schedule. Highlights include: October 6, Glenn Hall starts the first of 512 consecutive games in net. His first season he had 12 shutouts and a 2.11 GAA. October 13, Montreal signs Henri Richard. November 5, Jean Beliveau scores 3 power play goals in 44 seconds. That causes a rule change where if you score on a 2 minute power play, then the penalty ends.  December 29, officials wear black and white striped shirts for their uniforms for the first time. March 15 Jean Beliveau sets a record for centers with his 45th goal of the season. Montreal ends Detroit 7 year run on top with their first place finish. Playoffs: semi finals; Montreal 4 New York 1, Detroit 4 Toronto 1. Stanley Cup: Montreal 4 Detroit 1. Montreal ends Detroit's dynasty and begins one of their own. Coming up soon is the 1956-57 season.
