n.l. central goes to the red birds times 3

the St. Louis Cardinals are the N.L. Central division champions for the third year in a row after thumping the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-1 in the second game of their double header. this also gives the Pirates the wild card spot. so it will be the Pirates and the Chicago Cubs in the wild card game October 7th while St Louis has home field through out the National League playoffs. so congrats to the Cardinals

Blue Jays fly into a.l. east title

the Toronto Blue Jays have just won the A.L. East division title after a convincing 15-2 win in Baltimore over the Orioles. first title in 22 years. Ryan Goins became the first Jays shortstop to get 5 hits. Marcus Stroman pitched 8 excellent innings and LaTroy Hawkins closed it out in the ninth. they do have another game tonight as this was the first game of a double header so the celebration will be short. they wil host the first two games of the ALDS. congrats to the Jays

the Los Angeles Dodgers are N.L. west champions after an 8-0 win in San Francisco. Clayton Kershaw threw a one hitter in the process. all the Dodgers had to do was to beat the Giants to claim the division and they did going away. congrats to the Dodgers.

Toronto's magic number for the division is 5.

Cubs hunt into playoffs, defending champs out and possibly more tomorrow

a San Francisco Giants loss to the Oakland A's not only eliminated the defending world series champs from post season, but it put the Chicago Cubs into post season as well. so we will have new world series champions. tomorrow the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays could be playoff bound. the Mets could win the division with a win or Washington loss. the Jays could clinch a berth with a win or an Los Angeles Angels loss. that is tomorrow.

a.l. central goes royal in kansas city

with a 10-4 win over Seattle, and Minnesota losing to Cleveland, the Kansas City Royals are A.L. Pirates join Cardinals for post season, fall gets welcomed in

the Pittsburgh Pirates have joined the St. Louis Cardinals in reaching post season baseball. they beat out Colorado today 13-7 to get there. they sit four games behind St. Louis for the division. that should be a good one. meanwhile, early this morning marked the arrival of the autumn equinox - or the end of summer and the beginning of fall. and it has looked like it. mmmm i love fall - until it gets cold and the snow flies. but that is another time.

pitchers who rake

Jake Peavy of the San Francisco Giants helped tie a club record for amount of pitchers who hit a home run in one season. he was the fifth one who has done so. Giants pitchers have combined for 9 home runs

how a plate appearance ends up not - times four

Bryce Harper put up a line that hasnt't been seen since 1914. he made four appearances to the plate and not one was an official at bat. he was walked all four times, scored a run all four time and one of his walks produced a run. so the line looks like this: 0-0, 4BB, 4R, 1RBI. so there is that
