the great american race

this ended up to be one heck of a finish. going into the back stretch, Matt Kenseth had the lead. Denny Hamlin and a couple of other cars suddenly caught up to him. Hamlin then found an opening to pull along side Kenseth and then pass him. as Hamlin was going by, Kenseth wiggled a couple of times (no they did not touch). Hamlin then ends up side by side with Martin Truex Jr. as they were heading for the line, they ended up bumping once or twice (how they did not wreck i will never know) Hamlin beat Truex by .01 of a second. best finish ever i think.

good two or three days

it has been an interesting couple or three days. first pitchers and catchers have been showing up to report for spring training. baseball is amongst us. position players will join them in a few days. yesterday, the CFL released the 2016 schedule. opening weekend has the grey cup rematch from 2015 as Ottawa visits Edmonton on July 25. the other feature game has Hamilton at Toronto on opening Thursday, July 23rd as former Toronto Argonaut Chad Owens returns to Toronto as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. the schedule can be seen on www.cfl.ca

flags galore

the flags in my room. the first two are and will be world cup of soccer (football everywhere else). pictures three and four are Olympic hosts and the fifth one are Commonwealth games hosts.

super bowl 50 in the books

it was an okay game. it was a defensive battle for sure with 12 punts (maybe more). but the Denver Broncos have won super bowl 50 with a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in what maybe Peyton Manning's last game. but i think it was Von Miller of the Broncos who led the way in the win on the defensive side, causing two fumbles that led to Denver touchdowns - one on the defense and one on the offense. he was a defensive beast. the entire defense didn't let Cam Newton get much going. Denver coach Gary Kubiak became the first coach to win a super bowl with the team that he won with as a player. super bowl mvp was Von Miller. so that is it for another nfl season until the fall.

six more months

yes, six more months to the beginning of the summer olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. yes there have been issues(who doesn't). hopefully they will be straightened out by then. there will be some test runs between now and then. plus the torch relay. anyways until then stay tuned.
