1932 (X Olympiad) games

 These games were held in Los Angeles from July 30 to August 14 1932. 37 nations and 1332 athletes participated. Great depression attributed to low numbers. An Olympic mascot was used for first time, although unofficially. Olympic village was built for first time, becoming a model for future games. Only 3 nations competed in field hockey. United States lost to India and Japan and still took bronze. India wins gold and Japan silver. Takeichi Nishi wins Japan's (to date) only gold in equestrian on horse Uranus. 3000m steeplechase ends up going one extra lap due to an official's error. Womens 80m hurdles and women's javelin added. Colombia debuts. Host United States wins most medals (44g, 36s, 30b 110 total). Canada won 2g, 5s, 9b 16 total. Tomorrow is 1936 games. Here is the emblem for today.
