1982 Commonwealth Games

 The 12th edition of the Commonwealth Games was in Brisbane Australia from September 30 to October 9.  46 nations and 1583 athletes competed in 141 events and 12 sports. Main venue was QEII stadium (ceremonies, athletics and archery).  Queen's baton final runner was Raylene Boyle. Logo was designed by Hugh Edwards.  Mascot was Matilda the kangaroo. Mens 200m was a literal dead heat between Mike McFarlane of England and Allan Wells of Scotland when judges couldn't separate the pair at the line. Falkland Islands, Saint Helena, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu 🇻🇺 debuted here.  23 nations won a medal. Top 5: 1. Australia was 1st in gold and 2nd overall with 39g, 39s, 29b for 107 total. England was 2nd in gold and 1st overall with 38g, 38s, 32b for 108 total. Canada was 3rd in both with 26g, 23s, 33b for 82 total.  Scotland was 4th in gold and tied for 4th overall with 8g, 6s, 12b for 26 total.  New Zealand was tied for 5th in gold and tied for 4th overall with 5g, 8s, 13b for 26 total.
