1930 Commonwealth Games

 The first Commonwealth Games were held from August 16 to 23 in Hamilton, Ontario. 11 nations and 400 athletes attended the games. 59 sports events at the games. Women only participated in aquatics. They were known ad the British empire Games. They were organized by Hamilton Spectator sportswriter Bobby Robinson, who had attended the 1928 summer Olympics. Many of the events, including the opening ceremony, was at Civic Stadium  - later named Ivor Wynne Stadium. Games were opened by Governor General Lord Willingdon. Few hours later, Canadian Gordon Smallacombe won ghe first ever gold in triple jump. The 11 nations were: Australia, Bermuda 🇧🇲, British Guiana, Canada, England, Ireland, Newfoundland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. England won most gold znd most overall (25g, 23s, 13b 61t). Canada was second (20g, 15s, 19b 54t). Tomorrow, the 1934 games in London England. Here is the poster for this one.
