1960-61 NHL season

The 1960-61 NHL season had (ya you know) 70 games and 6 teams.  Red Kelly moved from defense to forward, helps Toronto move to second. Stzn Mikita invents the curved stick. Jean Beliveau sets an assists record with 58. November 7, Gordie Howe is first player to 1000 points. August 26, the original Hockey Hall of Fame building opens. Semi finals had: Chicago 4 Montreal 2 and Detroit 4 Toronto 1. First series featuring two American teams since 1950. With the Montreal loss: their 5 championships in a row end. 2. Their consecutive series wins at 10 end. 3. Their streak of 10 consecutive finals appearances comes to an end.  Wow. The first and third streaks are safe.  The second one will eventually be broken.  Stanley Cup finals has Chicago beating Detroit 4-2 to win their 3rd ever Cup znd first since 1938. That is this season.
