The 1896 (I Olympic Games)

 The first summer games of the modern era negan in Greece from April 6-15. 14 nations and 241 athletes (numbers disputed, athletes all male). Athens was chosen to host the same day the IOC was created. United States won most gold with 11, while Greece won most overall with 47. Highlights include Carl Schumann winning most individual medals with 4 - all golf (team parallel bars, team horizontal bars, vault and Greco Roman wrestling), while Spyridon Louis won the marathon on home soil, supposedly on original route on first marathon.
