Ice hockey at the 1956 winter olympics

 10 teams participated in this tournament over 3 groups. Soviet Union made its first appearance here. Canada, Soviet Union, Sweden, Germany, United States and Czechoslovakia got to the final round while Italy, Poland, Switzerland and Austria finished 7-10th.  Soviet Union won gold, United States the silver and Canada the bronze.
