in the capper, Italy showed their defensive skill as they beat Belgium 2-0. totally shut down the Belgium attack. earler Ireland and Sweden played to a 1-1 tie. Ireland got the first goal of the game, and then had one of their players score an own goal (put the ball in their own net), tying the game for Sweden. group E standings has Italy with three pts, Ireland and Sweden with one each and Belgium with none. in the first game of the day to round out group D, Spain beat the Czech Republic 1-0. Spain and Croatia have three pts, while the Czechs and Turkey have none. games tomorrow has Austria vs Hungary and Portugal vs Iceland in group F to round out the first games of group play.
