1959-60 NHL season

This season had (you know by now) 6 teams and 70 games. Highlights includes: 1. Red Kelly refused to report to New York after being traded (it was common). Toronto GM Punch Imlach picks him up. Eventually pays dividends in a couple of seasons. 2. Bobby Hull beats Bronco Horvath for the scoring race by 1 point. (Bronco Horvath is one of those players one has never heard of). 3. November 1 1959, Jacques Plante takes a shot in the nose and has to get stitches. Tells coach Toe Blake he won't play unless he wears mask. Blake gives in and Montreal goes on a roll. Plante is first player since Clint Benedict to wear a mask. 4. January 28, 1960 Plante is first player to win 30 games in six straight seasons. 5. January 27 Glenn Hall plays 329th consecutive game. 6. First season which all active players has played with an original 6 team in the original 6 Era. Playoffs had: semi finals; Montreal 4 Chicago 0 and Toronto 4 Detroit 2.  Stanley Cup: Montreal 4 Toronto 0. Montreal wins 5th consecutive Stanley Cup and 12th overall. Maurice Richard retires after this season is over.
