1956-57 NHL season

This season had, you guessed it,  6 teams and 70 games. October 1, Dick Irvin Sr resigns as Chicago coach due to illness. Tommy Ivan takes over. November 18, Ted Lindsay scores goal #300. January 5, CBS aires an afternoon game between New York and Chicago. New York wins 4-1.  February 11, Ted Lindsay forms the NHLPA.  After this season him and Glenn Hall get traded to Chicago. Chicago will start improving while Detroit starts declining.  Power play rule changes.  Before, you could score as many goals as possible on the power play.  Now, once you score, penalty ends.  Playoffs:  semi finals; Boston upsets Detroit 4-1, while Montreal knocks off New York 4-1. Stanley Cup had Montreal beat Boston 4-1.  Next up is the 1957-58 season.
