day one is done.  Germany leads most golds with two, while Netherlands leads overall with 4, including a sweep in the womens 3000m speedskating.  Carlijn Achtereekte (gold), Ireen Wust (silver) and Antoinette de Jong (bronze) won medals. fun fact: Noriaki Kasai of Japan, after participating in ski jumping qualification, participated in EIGHT different winter Olympics.  wow.  day two starts in a late this afternoon in Edmonton.
