2014 winter games

the 2014 edition was held in Sochi, Russia and was held from February 7-23.  88 nations were at these games.  highlights include:  1.  the first logo to feature a website (will show it at the end).  2.  several sports were added which include - figure skating team event, ski halfpipe, womens ski jump, mixed relay biathlon, team luge relay, ski slopestyle, snowboard slopestyle, and snowboard parallel special slalom.  3.  Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia became the first female to repeat as biathlon champion. 4. Carina Vogt of Germany won the first ever gold in women's ski jumping. 5.  Tina Maze of Slovenia and Dominique Gisin of Switzerland finished with a time of 1:41.57.  marks the first time that any Olympic alpine event had a tie for gold.  6.  the first gold in team luge went to Natalie Geisenberger, Felix Loch, Tobais Wendl and Tobais Ardl of Germany.  7. Canada beats the U.S. 3-2 im OT for gold in womens hockey.  Canada had been down two goals and scored two in 3:26 to tie it (helped by a bit of luck when the U.S. shot at the empty net and the puck hit the post before Canada tied it).  Canada won 25 medals (10g, 10s, 5b) at these games.  tomorrow - the 2018 preview.  here is  the aforementioned logo for 2014.
