CF: New York Islanders 4 Montreal 2 , Edmonton 4 Minnesota 0. Stanley Cup finals: Edmonton 4 New York Islanders 1. Edmonton wins first cup. Mark Messier wins Conn Smythe trophy. #1 draft pick in 1984 was Mario Lemieux by Pittsburgh. He plays entire career there, playing 915 games, 690 goals, 1033 assists and 1723 points.

Quarter finals 3 and 4

 Heartbreak for Canada. Lost to Czech Republic 4-3. Rough first, better second and great third until a borderline penalty call on Canada (it was a clean hit) Czechs scored on power play and that was it. Heartbreaking, frustrating and disappointing finish to said game. Other quarter finals had Finland beat Slovakia 5-3. Semi finals has Sweden vs Finland and United States vs Czech Republic. Both games on Saturday.
