1968-69 NHL season

 The 1968-69 NHL season had 12 teams and 76 games (two more games than the previous season.  October 27 gordie Howe was first to 900 assists. November 7 Berenson of St. Louis scores 6 goals in a game. March 2 Phil Esposito is first player to achieve 100 points in a season (126). Bobby Hull (107) and Gordie Howe (103) join Esposito. Bobby Hull was first player to score more than 50 goals, scoring 58.  Montreal was first team to accumulate 100 points.  During the playoffs,  Gerry Cheevers was first goalie to win 3 straight via shutout.  Quarterfinals: Montreal 4 New York 0, Boston 4 Toronto 0, St Louis 4 Philadelphia 0 and Los Angeles 4 Oakland 3. Semi finals: Montreal 4 Boston 2  and St Louis 4 Los Angeles 0. Stanley Cup finals: Montreal 4 St Louis 0. Montreal wins for second year in a row and 16th overall. Serge Savard is Conn Smythe trophy winner. First pick in the 1969 draft is Rejean Houle. He plays from 1969 to 1973 and 1976 to 1983 with Montreal and 1973-74 to 1975-76 with the Quebec Nordiques in the WHA. Career totals in Montreal: 635 games, 161 goals, 247 assists for 408 points.  Career points with Quebec: 214 games, 118 goals,  139 assists, 257 points.  Next up is the 1969-70 NHL season.
