1943-44 NHL season.

1943-44 NHL season had 6 teams and 50 game schedule. Center red line was introduced on the rink, hoping to open up play.  CAHA past president George Dudley recommended payment from NHL for amateur players be deferred until the players had returned from war action.  Montreal Canadiens end up class of NHL, finished regular season 38-5-7. Meanwhile New York was on the bottom finishing with six wins. Two miserable highlights had New York lose 15-0 to Detroit and a week later lose 12-2, with Syd Howe scoring 6 goals. Ouch. Playoffs had Montreal beat Toronto 4-1 while Chicago beat Detroit, also 4-1.  Stanley Cup finals had Montreal sweep Chicago 4-0.
