canadian flag turns 50

the Canadian flag celebrates its 50th birthday. it was raised on parliament hill on his day in 1965, thus also retiring the red ensign. there were many choices, but the maple leaf and red sides was chosen. there was a lot of controversy in late 1964 when the change was about to happen. even from the war veterans who fought under the red ensign and union jack. Lester B. Pearson was behind the campaign for the flag. so happy birthday to the Canadian flag.
