Game time

More like table top arcade game. Watching TronicsFix fix a Donkey Kong Jr table top game to working order (he actually fixed it and played it to make sure it worked), it reminded me of when I had Mario's Cement Factory. Loved playing with it. May have driven mom nuts some days. Even brought it camping. Here is Mario's Cement Factory.

From old time baseball photos

Image
Here is a scorecard from the 1909 world series. It was 10¢. Pittsburgh was spelt without the H and the word baseball was seperate (base ball). Pittsburgh beat Detroit in 7 games, led by Honus Wagner.

Ebbets field

Image
A different view of Ebbets field. Shown is from 1913 near completion. Ground was broken in 1912 and took a year to complete. Was named after Charles Hercules Ebbets, who owned the Dodgers at the time.  It was built with steel and concrete. The Dodgers old home - Washington park - was aging, and was a mostly wooden park, which, like other wooden parks, susceptible to fires. First game was an exhibition game vs the Yankees, and the first regular season home game was a 1-0 loss to the Phillies. History lesson.

Today's ball park

Image
Today it's from Weehawken NJ. Weehawken stadium is 299 down the left field line, 405 to left center, and 286 to right field. It's also built on top of the Lincoln Tunnel. Check it out.

Hello fall

The beginning of autumn began at 12:19 Prince Albert time.  The weather has been perfect the last few days. Hopefully stays that nice. Likely won't though.

Last day of summer

Unreal it's the last official full day of summer. Yonkers. It's 27c at the time of writing. Leaves are really turning colors. It'll be bleeping cold soon.

Tunisia makes 18

Tunisia qualified on Friday, 10 points clear of second place Namibia (Namibia has 3 games left), Tunisia has 2). I don't know how I missed that. Anyways, that is 18 in and 30 left to qualify.

Milwaukee County stadium

Image
This was taken in 1953, shortly after the Braves moved in from Boston. The Braves stayed in Milwaukee until 1966. It was used again after the Seattle Pilots moved to Milwaukee days before the 1970 season, becoming the Brewers. The Brewers stayed there until Miller Park opened.

And one more

This time it's Morocco qualifying. And possibly more to come. 17 spots occupied. 31 left.

Three more in

Uruguay, Colombia and Paraguay have qualified for next year world Cup. They all qualified last night.that is now 16 of 48 teams. (Wow 1/3 in).

At Yankee Stadium...

Image
Al Gionfriddo of the Brooklyn Dodgers makes a great catch a few feet from the left field fence, denying Joe DiMaggio of at least a triple, or a possible inside the park Homer that could have tied the game. The play was in game 6 on October 5 1947. Brooklyn won 8-6, but the Yankees won the world series. It is a rare instance joe DiMaggio publically was upset. Here is a shot of inside Yankee Stadium.
