 The youth Olympic Games are on and Canada has its first medal and it's a silver in judo. Anes Mati in men's 66kg class. Excellent. More to come.

 The BC Lions are heading to Edmonton after beating Saskatchewan 33-26 in the west semi final. The west final in Edmonton is Saturday.

  Have a great and safe Halloween. Lots of ghouls and goblins will be out in full force, so keep your eyes open.

 The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are going to Montreal for the east final after beating the Toronto Argos 25-22. They play the Alouettes in the east final next Saturday.

 With a 4-1 win last night, the Milwaukee Brewers are world series Champions.  Their first championship and the city's first since 1957 when the Milwaukee Braves won. So that's another season out the door.

 Regular season is done. The playoff match ups have: BC at Saskatchewan with Edmonton getting the bye to the west final. In the east, Winnipeg (in the crossover spot) heads to Hamilton to play the east semi with Montreal getting bye to east final. Semi final games are on Saturday. The road to the Grey Cup is on.

 The Tampa Bay Rays are in the world series after beating Cleveland 7-3 in game 6 and the series 4-2. It will be the 8th time there will be a first time winner. Last time was 1980 when the Phillies beat the Royals.

 The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers after a 6-4 win in game four.  They await either Tampa Bay or Cleveland.  Time for new world series Champions 

 Cleveland Guardians are in the ALCS after beating Chicago 2-0 last night in game 5. Cleveland plays Tampa Bay next.

 The Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the Atlanta Braves 3-1, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 and the Tampa Bay Rays swept the New York Yankees 3-0. The Dodgers will face the Brewers in the NLCS, while the Rays await the winner of Cleveland vs Chicago series. Game 5 there is tomorrow.

 The Atlanta Braves will face the Los Angeles Dodgers after beating Philadelphia 6-3 last night. Divisional round starts Saturday 

 On this day in 1903, the first world series game was played. The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Americans (now Red Sox) 7-3 at the Huntington Avenue grounds in Boston. Boston won the series 5 games to 3 (it was a best of nine).

 Three sweeps yesterday. White Sox swept Houston and will play Cleveland next.  Yankees swept Boston and will play Tampa Bay next. San Diego swept the Cubs and will play Milwaukee next. Philadelphia vs Atlanta tonight to play Los Angeles next. Division series starts Saturday 

 The postseason it here and here are the match ups. They are: Philadelphia vs Atlanta, Chicago vs San Diego, Chicago vs Houston and Boston vs New York. Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Milwaukee and Los Angeles have the byes to the division round.

 Dave Kingman is the first (and I believe the only player) to play with a team in all four divisions in 1977 (New York Mets NL East, San Diego Padres NL West, California Angels AL West, and New York Yankees AL East). Insane.

 Yup, all begins boxing day, with Canada playing Switzerland to open, Latvia on the 28th, Norway on the 29th and Czech Republic on new years eve. All games start at 7pm Eastern Time 

 Watching a video on old baseball traditions. From scheduled double headers, scorecards, pitchers batting, day games (they still happen), wool uniforms, and pitchers throwing complete games. What other traditions do you remember?

 Opening weekend in the NFL is done. What stood out?  Saints lost, Seahawks won. Bears win high scoring game.  How about the CFL quadruple header Saturday?  Fun day there. I will throw in an old CFL stadium. Clarke Stadium.

 First the fun fact. Lee May hit the last ever home run at Crosley Field against Juan Marichal of the San Francisco Giants on June 24, 1970. Reds won 5-4.  Great labor Day weekend. Except for the rain yesterday. Montreal beat BC, Saskatchewan beat Winnipeg, Toronto beat Hamilton and Edmonton beat Calgary. 3-1 in my pickems. This weekend has Ottawa at Toronto at 11am, Saskatchewan at Winnipeg at 2pm, Calgary at Edmonton at 5pm and Montreal at BC at 8pm. All games on Saturday and all Prince Albert time.
