1992 (XXV Olympiad) games

 These games were held in Barcelona Spain from July 25 to August 9. 169 nations and 9386 athletes participated. First games not to have a boycott. South Africa makes return to games. Olympic cauldron lit by flaming arrow. Deratu Tulu of Ethiopia wins 10000m. Her and South African Elana Meyer made a hand in hand victory lap. Germany sends unified team. Following Soviet Union break up, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania debuted here. Russia and 15 other former Soviet Union republics send unified team. Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina also debut after Yugoslavia break up. Kyoko Iwasaki wins gold at 14. Susi Susanti wins Indonesia first gold in badminton.  Unified team won most gold (45) and most overall (112). Spain won 13g, 7s, 2b for 22 total. Canada won 7g, 4s, 7b for 18 total.
