1968 (XIX Olympiad) games

 The 1968 games were in Mexico City from October 12-27.  112 nations and 5516 athletes participated. First in Latin America. First to use all weather track. First to use electronic time keeping. George Foreman wins heavyweight boxing gold. Games held at 2240m (7350 feet) above sea level. East and West Germany competed as separate nations. First games televised in color. Canada competes first time under new flag. United States won most gold (45) and overall (101). Mexico won 3g, 3s, 3b for 9 total. Canada won 1g, 3s, 1b for 5 total.
