euro 2012 group C action

group C is in full swing today with spain and italy playiong to a one all draw.  prety good game this one with chances on both sides.  italy got the first goal in the 61st minute only to have spain score three minutes later.  both teams got a point.  next up to round out group C is ireland vs croatia.

update:  croatia 3 ireland 1.  interesting game and a couple of questionable calls  croatia leads group C with three points, italy and spain with one each and ireland with none.  tomorrow is group D action featuring france vs england and ukraine vs sweden.

 These games were in Paris from July 26 to August 11. 206 nations and 10714 athletes participated. Highlights include:  1. Breakdance debuted here. 2. Final games under Thomas Bach. Dominica, St Lucia, Cape Verde, and Albania won first medal. Dominica, St Lucia, Botswana and Guatemala won first golds. Refugee Olympic Athletes team also won a medal. 3. 85 nations won a medal. 4. 32 Olympic records and 10 world records fell. 5.  Siffan Hassan won a bronze in 5000 and 10000 meter and a gold in marathon. That's over 57km in running. Wow. 6.  One podium sweep and it was France in men's BMX. Toris Daudet (gold), Sylvain Andre (silver) and Romain Mahieu (bronze) was on the podium. 7. United States and China tied for most gold (40). United States won most overall (40g, 44s, 42b) with 126. France had 16g, 26s, 22b for 64 total. Canada won 9g, 7s, 11b for 27 total. Coming up had the Paralympics.
