 On this day in 1903, the first world series game was played. The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Americans (now Red Sox) 7-3 at the Huntington Avenue grounds in Boston. Boston won the series 5 games to 3 (it was a best of nine).

 Three sweeps yesterday. White Sox swept Houston and will play Cleveland next.  Yankees swept Boston and will play Tampa Bay next. San Diego swept the Cubs and will play Milwaukee next. Philadelphia vs Atlanta tonight to play Los Angeles next. Division series starts Saturday
