it took four years and 143 races, but dale earnhard jr FINALLY won a race running away from tony stewart to take it.  his last win was also at this track in michigan.  stewart is still 8th in the points even after finishing second.  jr is four points behind matt kenseth, who still leads.  he finished 3rd.  mr 5x jimmie johnson finished 5th and is now fourth in the points.  next race is next sunday in wine country in sonoma california.  going road racing.

Refugee Olympic Athletes team also won a medal. 3. 85 nations won a medal. 4. 32 Olympic records and 10 world records fell. 5.  Siffan Hassan won a bronze in 5000 and 10000 meter and a gold in marathon. That's over 57km in running. Wow. 6.  One podium sweep and it was France in men's BMX. Toris Daudet (gold), Sylvain Andre (silver) and Romain Mahieu (bronze) was on the podium. 7. United States and China tied for most gold (40). United States won most overall (40g, 44s, 42b) with 126. France had 16g, 26s, 22b for 64 total. Canada won 9g, 7s, 11b for 27 total. Coming up had the Paralympics.
