1986-87 NHL season

 The 1986-87 season had 21 teams and an 80 game schedule. Highlights include: 1. June 6, 1986 had Boston acquire Cam Neely. 2. March 10, Los Angeles trades Marcel Dionne to New York Rangers. 3. April 9, Edmonton scores 13 in a game 2 win over Los Angeles. 4. April 12 Montreal beats Boston in the playoffs for 18th consecutive time (dating back to 1946). 5. Mike Bossy scores 30 goals in a season for 10th consecutive year. 6. April 4, Denis Potvin scores 1000th point - the first defenseman to do so. 7. January 22, a massive blizzard results in 334 people show up at the Brendan Byrne arena to see the New Jersey Devils beat the Calgary Flames 7-5. This results in the formation of the "334 club." CF; Philadelphia 4 Montreal 2, Edmonton 4 Detroit 1. Stanley Cup finals; Edmonton 4 Philadelphia 3. Edmonton wins 3rd Stanley Cup in 4 years. Ron Hextall of Philadelphia wins Conn Smythe trophy. #1 draft pick for 1987 was Pierre Turgeon, chosen by Buffalo. He played 1294 games, scores 515 goals, has 812 assists for 1327 points.
