jimmie johnson wins in phoenix, closer to history

jimmie johnson won his 7th race in phoenix by beating out kurt busch by a couple of car lengths. the win plus carl edwards finishing fourth moves johnson 141 points ahead of edwards. with the finale in homestead on sunday, johnson needs to finish 36th or better to win the championship. if he does he will be the first driver since cale yarborough in the late '70s to win three championships in a row.

That's over 57km in running. Wow. 6.  One podium sweep and it was France in men's BMX. Toris Daudet (gold), Sylvain Andre (silver) and Romain Mahieu (bronze) was on the podium. 7. United States and China tied for most gold (40). United States won most overall (40g, 44s, 42b) with 126. France had 16g, 26s, 22b for 64 total. Canada won 9g, 7s, 11b for 27 total. Coming up had the Paralympics.
