tampa routs boston, phillies take command on dodgers

the tampa bay rays are up two games to one in the series with a 9-1 thrashing of the red sox. the rays roughed up boston starter john lester. game 4 in boston tomorrow.

meanwhile the phillies are one game away from a trip to the world series with a 7-5 win over the dodgers. the phils can wrap it up thursday night in los angeles

Ice hockey at the 1980 winter Olympics

 This tournament went from February 12-24, 1980. 12 teams played. The Olympic Fieldhouse and Olympic Arena hosted the games. Canada hockey team returns and finishes 6th. Tournament best remembered for the "miracle on ice" as the United States beat the Soviet Union before beating Finland to win gold. They had also beat Czechoslovakia and tied Sweden. Their roster fielded exclusively amateur players. The United States, as mentioned, won gold, Soviet Union the silver and Sweden the bronze. Next is the 1984 tournament in Sarajevo Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦).
