boxing day means.................... 1: the in-between part between christmas and new year's. 2: the terrorist shoppers hit the malls looking for "savings" although personally i think theyre wasting time in the malls. 3: the eventual removal of all the christmas stuff (and no movies to be made). the slow christmas removal in my room has commenced and will eventually end in january.
week 16 in nfl featuring playoff picture with the dallas win last night and green bay losing, dallas has home field through out the nfc. the n.y. giants are in the playoffs with a win, pittsburgh got their division with cleveland losing. jacksonvil alos got in with a win today. minnesota is currently playing washington and can get in with a win. next week, tennessee will play in indianapolis while cleveland plays san francisco at home. a tennessee win and they are in. a tennessee loss and cleveland is in. update: washington 32 minnesota 21. washington and minny sit at 8-7 records, and with new orleans back in it at 7-8, it means 1: a washington win and theyre in (based on washington beating minnesota) 2: a minny win and a washington loss and minny is in and 3: a new orleans win + a minny loss + a washington loss would put new orleans in (based on conference record, at the moment, washington and new orleans is 6-5 and minny is 6-6. washing ton is home to dallas, new orleans is in ch...
nfl playoff run in full swing already 7 spots claimed already. pittsburgh can get one of the remaining 5 tonight by beating st. louis tonight. green bay, dallas, tampa bay, seattle, new england, indianapolis and san diego all won their divisions and are in. pittsburgh can get the last divion win with a win and a cleveland loss (pittsburgh won the two head to head games over cleveland). speaking of cleveland, they are in good shape for a spot. they can get in this weekend. jacksonville, ny giants and minnesota are in good shape to claim one. maybe this weekend, stay tuned. update: pittsburgh wins 41-24. meaning a cleveland loss to cincinnati and the steelers win division. it also means a tennessee loss to the n.y. jets gives pittsburgh a playoff spot.
can you believe its almost here? i cant believe christmas is almost here either. new year's isn't too far off either. december has flown by. then again so has 2007. its been unreal. i think we'll have a white christmas this year like last year. almost time to munch on the m&m's i got for an early christmas present. thanks to darren for that.
the red green show on dvd the 9th season of the red green show is coming out on february 26th. i already have seasons 7 and 8. the studio that is releasing them is planning at some point to release the other 12 seasons. that would be awesome since it was a funny show and it was made in canada. with segments like 'adventures with bill' and 'handymans corner' it was cool.
nice day to start december yeah, by watching hockey night in canada. right now toronto leads pitsburgh 2-0. columbusw at calgary is the second game of the doubleheader. plus its cold outside. with enough snow on the residential streets, they could be packed enough for a little street hockey. no complaints.
end of november already? is it almost decemober already? eeeeeeekkk how about that? last day of november already. what happened? jimmie johnson won the nascar championship winning 10 races. wow. saskatchewan rough riders win grey cup. woooohooooo. u.s. thanksgiving football and the macy's parade. december has a lot of college bowl games coming, lots of hockey, a little chrismas, new years eve (party hearty) and the run for the nfl playoffs. thats all for now.
95th grey cup the saskatchewa rough riders just won the grey cup over the winnipeg bluebombers. it is now their 3rd gry cup win to go with 1966 and in 1989, which was also in toronto. kent austin was quarterback in 1989 and was coach this year. full circle for the riders and for kent austin and for defensive co-ordinator richie hall.
a skiff of snow and the road to the grey cup got a bit of snow today. i finally snowed. and according to global, its supposed to snow on sunday and monday. some white stuff for the grey cup in toronto. the 95th edition will have the saskatchewan rough riders and the winnipeg blue bombers. it will actually be the first grey cup meeting between the two. should be a fun game. they will be playing indoors at the rogers centre. game time is after 4pm here
the 1974 summit series i am watching the second game of the '74 summit series between the canada and the soviets. the canadian team features the stars of the world hockey association. players like marc tardif, gordie, mark and marty howe (mark and marty the sons of gordie), gerry cheevers, and three stars of the original 1972 series, paul henderson, pat stapleton and frank mahovlich. the original tapes were destroyed, but "third genereation" copies were found, except for game 5 which couldn't be recovered. the soviets won this series with four wins, one loss and three ties.
checker auto parts 500 can you believe jimmie johnson won AGAIN. four in a row. last driver to do that was jeff gordon in 1998 when he won the championship then.with an 86 point lead, all johnson has to do is finish 18th or better to lock up the championship. its just been unreal to watch. next race is the finale in homestead and the ford 400.
1972 summit series on dvd i have the complete dvd series of the '72 summit series. it features all 8 games between canada and the soviet union. it also features one of two exhibition games between canada and sweden in stockholm, a feature presentation of the series capturing the highlights and reactions, a featurette 'where were you in '72?' the best of '72, player interviews, hockey hall of fame induction, a return visit to luzhniki ice palase in moscow and the team reunion. an 8 disc set. so far ive watched the first 3 discs (the feature presentation, the sweden exhibiton game, where were you in '72 and the first 2 games of the series). people that were alive then will always remember the series winning goal scored by paul henderson. as foster hewitt called it, 'henderson has scored for canada.'
