 The 1990-91 NHL season had 21 teams and an 80 game schedule. Highlights include: June 15, Calgary trades Joe Mullen to Pittsburgh. September 4, Montreal trades Claude Lemieux to New Jersey. October 11 Minnesota trades Larry Murphy to Pittsburgh. March 4 Ron Francis traded from Hartford to Pittsburgh. March 31 Chris Nilan gets 10 penalties in a game (6 minors 2 majors, 1 10 minute misconduct and 1 game misconduct). October 26 Wayne Gretzky gets point 2000. Playoffs: DSF; Boston 4 Hartford 2, Montreal 4 Buffalo 2, Pittsburgh 4 New Jersey 3, Washington 4 New York Rangers 2, Minnesota 4 Chicago 2, St Louis 4 Detroit 3, Los Angeles 4 Vancouver 2, Edmonton 4 Calgary 3.  DF; Boston 4 Montreal 3, Pittsburgh 4 Washington 1, Minnesota 4 St Louis 2, Edmonton 4 Los Angeles 2. CF; Pittsburgh 4 Boston 2, Minnesota 4 Edmonton 1. SCF; Pittsburgh 4 Minnesota 2. Pittsburgh Penguins win first Stanley Cup. Mario Lemieux is Conn Smythe trophy winner. #1 draft pick in 1991, Quebec chose Eric Lindros. Lindros never plays there. He plays 760 games, has 272 goals, 495 assists, 767 points with Philadelphia, New York Rangers, Toronto and Dallas. Soon the 1991-92 (75th) season.
