its four weeks to the Rio de Janeiro (wow 28 days) and I figured its time for some flash backs starting in 1896 when Athens, Greece hosted the first of the modern games. Athens was chosen after the international Olympic committee was formed Dimetrius Vikelas was named first president of the IOC until after these games were done. these games ran from April 9-15. the first hero of these games was fittingly Greek. Spyridon Louis won the marathon. shown here is the first poster of those games.
