jimmie sohnson still champ and new cfl champ to be crowned with a 5th place finish, jimmie johnson wins his FOURTH STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. a remarkable feat. mark martin finished 12th. denny hamlin won the ford 400 b.t.w. meanwhile the saskatchewan rough riders knocked out the defending grey cup champions calgary stampeders 27-17 and will face the montreal alouettes who massacred teh b.c. lions 56-18 in montreal. the grey cup is next week. and that will end "championship weeks" as i named it.

checker auto parts 500 jimmie johnson redeems himself by winning in phoenix and leading the most laps on top of that. with mark martin finishing 4th, johnsons lead is now 108. johnson can win the championship with a 25th or better in homestead - which is the final race of the year one week from tonight.

20th anniversary in berlin today marks the 20th anniversary of the berlin wall coming down marking the beginning of the end of communism in europe as we knew it. from the unification in germany toe the end of soviet communism change came. mass celebrations and reunions happened. there are still parts of the wall up. other parts are up around the world as a tribute to the event. an event to remember.

new york yankees champions the new york yankees are world series champions for the 27th time with a 7-3 win in game 6 over the phillies. hideki matsui drove in 6 runs to secure the win ( 2 run homer, 2 run double and 2 run single. a triple short of the cycle). first world series in the new yankee stadium. first yankees world series win since 2000 when they beat the mets. andy pettite got the win. hideki matsui was named world series mvp. he went 8 for 13 at the plate, including the 3 hits and 6 rbi's tonight. congrats to the yankees.

world series game 5 the phillies have won game 5 8-5. cliff lee got the win. a.j. burnett got the loss after giving up 6 runs in 2+ innings. chase utley got 2 home runs tonight and tied the world series record for most home runs in a world series with 5. game 6 is wednesday night in new york.

world series game 4 the yankees are up three games to one with a 7-4 win in game 4. a pretty good game tonight. johnny damon started a two out three run rally in the top of the ninth with a heck of an at bat to secure it. game 5 tomorrow night in philadelphia.
