in a torrential downpour and a muddy track, American Pharoah pulled away coming into the stretch to convincingly win the Preakness Stakes. Tale of Verve came second, Divining Rod ended up third and Dortmund fourth. winning time was 1:58.46. the Belmont Stakes is June 6th. can American Pharoah win the triple crown? see you in three weeks

it took overtime to do it, but the New York Rangers knock out the Washington Capitals 2-1 and will move on to the eastern final to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. the Rangers became the first team to come back from three games to one to win the series in back to back years. the series will start in New York. the conference finals schedule should be out soon. and then there were four.

with a 4-1 win in game six, the Tampa Bay Lightning are in the eastern conference finals after beating the Montreal Canadiens four games to two. they will face Washington or New York for the eastern title. game seven is tomorrow in New York.

game five went into overtime and it was the Anaheim Duck who came away with a 3-2 win, and thus wrapping up the series in five games over the Calgary Flames. Anaheim owned Calgary at home winning all their games there. Anaheim will now face the Chicago Black Hawks in the western conference finals. schedule to be decided soon. series starts in Anaheim.

last night, the Pittsburgh Pirates and St.Louis Cardinals were involved in the first 4-5-4 triple play (positions on the field are numbered. 4 is second base and 5 is third base). with the Cardinals batting and runners on second and third, Yadier Molina lined to second baseman Neil Walker for the first out. Walker then threw to third baseman Jung Ho Kang to get Jhonny Peralta out at third. Jason Heyward was running to third thinking base hit, saw what happened and realized what was going on, hustled back to second, but too late. Kang threw the ball back to Walker at second for the third out. triple play.

Andrew Miller of the New York Yankees became the first Yankees pitcher in 100 years with 15 straight games of no runs allowed and one hit or less allowed to start the season. wow. just wow. i don't think they were all complete games. impressive start

american pharaoh wins the 141st running of the kentucky derby. coming out of the last turn he, firing line and dortmund were literally neck and neck and he started to pull away, firing line came second and dortmund ended up third. winning time was 2:03.02. victor espinoza was winning jockey, bob baffort was winning trainer, and ahmed zayat winning owner. next race is in two weeks with the preakness stakes.
