Meet the Canadian Olympic cycling team

13 track cyclists and 4 road cyclists will be in Tokyo this time next year. The track cyclists are: Hugo Barrette, Allison Beveridge, Ariane Bonhomme, Vincent Dehaitre, Jasmine Duehring, Annie Foreman-Mackey, Derek Gee, Lauriane Genest, Jay Lamoureax, Kelsey Mitchell, Georgia Simmerling, and Nick Wammes. The road team has: Karon-Anne Canuel, Hugo Houle, Leah Kirchmann, and Mike Woods. Hopefully more to come soon.

Would have been today

Today would have been the start of the summer games. Cauldron would have been lit, parade of nations would have happened and opening ceremonies would have been quite a spectacle. As much as I wanted these games to go, it was a good call to move them a year. I feel bad for the athletes who now have to wait a year to compete. An extra year to train.

Mlb under way

Opening day (finally) has arrived. Yankees beat the Nationals 4-1 and the Dodgers lead the Giants 6-1 in the 8th inning. Rest of the league starts tomorrow.

One year to go. Again.

We are one year away from the Tokyo Summer Olympics. Again. Hopefully this time next year we will have watched the opening ceremonies. Hopefully they go off.

On this day in 1976

Canada won its first medal on home soil as the womens 4X100m won a bronze in the pool in the medley. Susan Sloan, Robin Corsiglia, Wendy Hogg , and Anne Jardin won the bronze at the Montreal Olympics. Corsiglia wad the youngest Canadian to win a medal at 13 years old.

Hockey returns

It's official. The board of governers and the NHLPA have ratified a CBA extension to the end of the 2025-26 season AND has chosen Edmonton and Toronto as hub cities for this years playoffs. Summer training starts Monday and the post season starts August 1. Hopefully some CFL football soon.

Belmont Stakes (was run last month. Just discovered this)

I honestly saw this looking for when the triple crown was rescheduled. Belmont Stakes was moved to June 20th. The race 2as shortened to 1 1/8 miles. Tiz the Law won the race in 1:46.53. Manny Franco was winning jockey (his first in Belmont). Barclay Tagged was winning - and oldest winning trainer at 82. Kentucky Derby is on September 5th.

MLB sked out

The baseball schedule is now out. Season opens on the 23rd featuring the Yankees visiting the Nationals as their world series banner goes up, followed by the Giants at the Dodgers. Play ball

Busy Saturday

Geez ended up a busy Saturday. Ended up showering, started my laundry, had my second load into the dryer and put first load in my room before going to mow three lawns, had lunch with dad, came home and showered again. I don't smell like grass now. Not going to do much now.

Happy 4th of July.

Happy 4th of July to all my friends in the U.S. Stay safe out there.

Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians eh. Too bad there won't be much for fireworks (stupid pandemic). Best time of the year to wear red. Enjoy the day ya hosers (Bob and Doug McKenzie).
