in the early game Japan beat Australia 1-0 to advance to the semi finals. they will be playing England, who just knocked out host Canada 2-1. Japan vs England is Canada day Wednesday, while the U.S. plays Germany on Tuesday. should make for a good semi final.

Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals just finished throwing a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates. no walks, 16 strikeouts and the only player to get on, Jose Tabata, got hit with two outs in the 9th to ruin the perfect game. he is also the second Nationals pitcher to throw a no-hitter. congrats.

the 37 year drought is over as American Pharoah has won the Belmont Stakes in the winning time of 2:26.65. him and jocket victor espinosa pulled away coming out of the final turn to seal the win.
