Quite a performance by this team. First Canadian team to win it since 2018. Congrats to team Canada.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-4951055781364511012024-03-22T17:16:00.001-06:002024-03-22T17:16:11.446-06:00A couple more
The big upset of the day so far had #13 Yale beat #4 Auburn 78-76. Uuf. The other one had #10 Colorado beat #7 Florida 102-100 (I wonder if a 10 seed over a 7 seed is an upset). Question now is how many brackets have been busted. Probably loads.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-79296630594268919262024-03-22T11:56:00.004-06:002024-03-22T11:56:44.427-06:00Canadian mixed doubles championships
This tournament went by quietly. We're in the last hours of winter. Supposed to be -5c today and that temperature the rest of the week. It was really a mild winter. Only one or two serious cold snaps and one major snow storm. Most of the snow from that is almost melted.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-65994449068769137162024-03-17T18:39:00.000-06:002024-03-17T18:39:03.644-06:00Happy St Patrick's day
It's St Patrick's day. Not sure how much Prince Albert got, but places between the Battlefords and Saskatoon got as much as 30cm or a foot of snow. It's deep enough that the alleyways were plowed. My room is next to an alley. I heard a plow go by. It's crazy that it was the first snowstorm of the season. I mean, we got dumps of 2 to 4 cm a couple of times. So that happened.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-31350540890357991202024-03-05T23:49:00.002-06:002024-03-05T23:49:27.757-06:002024 summer Olympics poster
The Paris 2024 summer Olympics posters came out yesterday. This blog has turned 20. 20 years of hockey, baseball, football, Olympics, Nascar and other wild and wacky shenanigans. Plus loads of fun facts somewhere. Here's to 20 more years.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-17355995339679533082024-02-29T21:06:00.001-06:002024-02-29T21:06:43.656-06:00Its leap day
It's the one day that shows up on the calendar every four years. Today is that day. It would be fun, if you were born on this day, where you would put your birthday when it's not a leap year. Just got me thinking, how many times I've posted on this day. Hmmm.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-9820453588066144952024-02-25T22:07:00.002-06:002024-02-25T22:07:14.557-06:002024 Scotties
What a crazy 10 days. Began with Brianne Harris becoming ineligible to play. The Kate Cameron knocking out Kerri Einarson in the playoffs. After a sloppy first half, the game picked up with a crazy finish. Game goes into overtime tied at 19. San Francisco gets a field goal to start. Kansas City gets the ball and scores the game winning touchdown to win super bowl 58 25-22. Some finish. First team to repeat in almost 20 years (New England I believe). Next football will be in May for the CFL season. That's it.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-63912719339754918012024-02-11T16:44:00.005-06:002024-02-11T16:44:44.024-06:00Womens basketball time
Wow quite the day from Canada's group. First game had Japan beat Canada 86-82 to put themselves into the Olympics. Canada needed Spain to beat Hungary to qualify (Spain qualified with Canada loss to Japan). For about two and a half to three quarters it wasn't looking good. Hungary was up by 22 at one point. Spain mounted a furious comeback and beat Hungary 73-72. Wow. Devin Heroux was all over this. Canada joins Japan and Spain at the Paris Olympics. The ladies join the mens team. First time both basketball teams will be at the Olympics since 2000. So quite the day.
Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10041274531473624598noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6565080.post-90201111085710516692024-02-10T16:34:00.003-06:002024-02-10T16:34:45.169-06:00Happy lunar new year
Today marks the lunar new year. Canada Playa its first game June 12 and plays its last two games in Vancouver (June 18 and 24). Toronto and Vancouver get 5 games each. Guadalajara has 4, Mexico City has 3 and Monterrey has 3. Let the qualifying begin (although I think it's started already). United States starts in Los Angeles on the 12th, in Seattle on the 19th and in Los Angeles again on the 25th. Mexico plays on the 18th and 24th.
